Hezonja is cut by Memphis and his future is up in the air

Mario Hezonja has run out of equipment in the NBA. His strategy during the transfer market was to extend his contract one more year, an option that he could activate himself, and this has led him to see himself with that money already guaranteed but without a franchise that wants him in his squad. At least for now.

Hezonja was in the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played last season, and he renewed for one season at the rate of $ 1.9 million. Those from Oregon did not count on him and included him in the transfer of Enes Kanter, for which Hezonja and the chosen in number 30 of the 2020 Draft, Desmond Bane, went to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Tennessee franchise had also not included Hezonja in its plans, which has been cut by Taylor Jenkins’ to make room for Ahmad Caver, a young point guard who comes from its affiliate in the G-League.

The future of Mario Hezonja is already a true unknown. According to Shams Charania (The Athletic), it is expected that there will be several teams that will express some interest in him once the preseason comes to an end and the 2020/21 regular season begins.

Hezonja, de 25 years, averaged 4,8 points and 3.4 rebounds with the Blazers last season. He was chosen in the 5th position of the 2015 Draft and, despite everything he promised, neither in the Magic nor in the Knicks nor in the two teams mentioned above has he managed to gain the necessary gap to remain in the NBA.

Hezonja, trained in the Barcelona quarry, has his return to Europe closer and closer. The next few weeks, key to his future in the League.
