With Cafu, Pelé and Maradona, the French magazine’s all-time selection is released on Monday, 14
The Golden Ball Dream Team is scheduled. After votes from 140 journalists from around the world, 11 players were cast to form the best football team of all time.

France Football decided not to deliver the Golden Ball in 2020, arguing that the Covid-19 pandemic took away the equal conditions for athletes to compete for the trophy. In place of the traditional award, the magazine opted to assemble the selection of football history, with players from the past and the present competing for votes.
Two Brazilians were chosen to be part of this great team, which was selected in the 3-4-3 scheme. In defense, the two-time world champion Cafu was one of the most voted. In midfield, no surprise: Pelé, the greatest player of all time, was selected for the Dream Team.
Other Brazilians competed in defense, midfield and also in attack. Brazil did not have one selected only in the positions of goalkeeper and defender. Carlos Alberto Torres and Djalma Santos were the other selected right backs. On the left side, Júnior, Marcelo, Nilton Santos and Roberto Carlos were also among those selected.
In the middle of the field, alongside Pelé, none other than Diego Maradona, who died at the end of November at the age of 60, was selected. Other Brazilians were competing in the middle of the field, but did not beat the competitors. They were: Didi, Falcão and Gérson as defensive midfielders and Sócrates and Zico as offensive players.
The strikers of the Golden Ball Dream Team will be announced at 2 pm (Brasília time).
