Further cancellations in badminton: Southeast German championships canceled without replacement

Dresden. Badminton is one of the sports most negatively affected by the corona pandemic. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that it is largely contested by amateurs right up to the top. On the other hand, badminton is played completely indoors. The league game has been suspended in all game classes, including the national leagues, since the end of October.

The Saxon Badminton Championships, which were supposed to take place in Stollberg-Niederdorf on December 5th and 6th, were canceled and will probably not be made up for. Now there have been further cancellations and a serious postponement. The Southeast German Championships, in which the best players from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony have been fighting for the title and qualification for the German championships since the fall of the Wall and which this time should take place on January 9th and 10th in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg , have been deleted without replacement.

The 69th German Championships, which were to be held in the Seidensticker Hall in Bielefeld from February 4th to 7th, have been postponed to August 26th to 29th. This is an absolute novelty, because the title fights will now take place in summer for the first time in their long history.
