Frost: WR Marcus Fleming no longer with Huskers; NU needs to ‘find the right kids, not just the right athletes’ | Soccer

Fleming and Delancy were high school teammates in Miami Northwestern and have each left the program in the last four days.

Nebraska junior defender Cam Taylor-Britt said he is trying to be a role model for younger players, but it’s not up to him whether or not those players want to be on the program.

“I wouldn’t say I’m upset just because this is not the life I live in,” said Taylor-Britt. “I’m here about Nebraska and I’m staying in Nebraska. That was the decision of these guys and I hope they succeed everywhere.

“But we have to get on here and the next man is up and they have to play.”

The question is whether Nebraska has a bigger problem on its hands, and that cannot be completely answered. Transfers are rife in college football, and the pandemic hasn’t done anything to improve the stability situation, let alone college athletes. Is that all? We will see.

“It’s been a tough year, but it starts with making sure we have the right kids,” said Frost. “I also think there’s a little more impatience these days. I was a pretty high-profile guy who graduated from high school and I didn’t play until my fourth year, and that’s not unusual. It still worked out fine .

“But we’re trying to teach our boys patience … and as far as we can.”
