From Llagostera to the Dakar Rally

Pau Navarro, a 16-year-old from Llagostera, will become one of the youngest participants in the legendary event in the next edition of the Dakar Rally. He will do so as a co-driver in the truck category of Álex Aguirregaviria, and realizing what he defined yesterday as “a dream that sometimes I do not want to wake up.” Navarro is one of the drivers and co-drivers from Girona who is part of the ambitious project of the FN Speed ​​Team, which from Llagostera wants to be one of the Spanish benchmarks of the next edition of the rally. In fact, it will be the one that will bring the most participants and, on motorcycles, for example, it aspires to be among the top twenty. Yesterday in Bescanó, at the Puigdemont circuit, the presentation of this initiative was made, which is also linked to the debut of the Rieju brand from Figueres in the raid, with Joan Pedrero and Oriol Mena as references.

The other Girona representatives of the team will be Sergi Brugué (car co-driver), Gaël Queralt (driver of side by side) the Saints Navarro (pilot de side by side), Pau’s father, apart from the brothers Borja and Rubén Rodríguez (car), natives of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, although they do not now live there. FN Speed ​​will travel to Saudi Arabia to take part in the 43rd edition of the Dakar Rally, which will take place from 3 to 15 January. There will be riders in all four categories, from motorcycles and cars, to Side by Side or trucks.

The FN Speed ​​Team will embark all vehicles tomorrow in Marseille and at the end of December the team will travel to Jeddah to pick them up between the 30th and 31st. On January 2, the traditional eleven-kilometer prologue will take place in Jeddah. where the order of departure of the vehicles will be determined, with a view to the start of the rally the next day. Bertrand Marc (sports director of the FN Speed ​​Team) said yesterday that “this year we have dedicated it to technical development for the sports stop. We have worked to present the best possible team at the Dakar. Our goal as a team is to face with determination the setbacks that arise in the race and that all the drivers reach the podium.

Pau Navarro will make his debut as a co-driver in this upcoming Dakar but for him the most famous rally in the world is nothing new. In the 2017 Dakar it was the previous days.
