“Football Leaks”. Defense of Rui Pinto requests “total criminal record” of former Doyen administrator

Heard for the second consecutive day, Nélio Lucas, former Doyen administrator, answered several questions raised by the defense of the panel of judges, until his defense asked the court to request, and attached to the process, a criminal record of the witness to show your clean registration.

This fact automatically deserved comment from the defense of Rui Pinto, who warned the court of the need for a complete document. The lawyer Teixeira da Mota underlined, “that a Criminal Record be requested by the court, even with facts prescribed and eliminated or canceled by time”, admitting that only in this way could it be concluded that the witness has a clean record.

“But am I here on trial?” Asked the witness. Judge Margarida Alves made it clear that she did not, stressing that such a request was being made by her own defense.

The defendant stated that he had only one criminal record from the United Kingdom dated 2016 and another Portuguese from 2019 and handed over this documentation voluntarily at the hearing.

The defense of Nélio Lucas, (the plaintiff in the Football Leaks case for an alleged extortion attempt on the part of Rui Pinto) asked for the criminal record to be added as a way of countering the dispute attached to the case by Rui Pinto, who alleges the existence of criminal records of Nélio Lucas who, ultimately, would prevent him from being an intermediary in football transfers.

In the emails sent to Nélio Lucas and analyzed during the session, the defendant Rui Pinto, on October 7, 2015 will have stated, “since we started talking that I stopped publishing information. I only published a letter from Rojo to keep the media circus. As proof of my goodwill, I will send a document from the Arbitral Tribunal for Sport against the SCP ”. He later admitted to delivering or destroying the documentation for a fee.

Nélio Lucas read yet another e-mail he received in October, “two days have passed and my lawyer informed me that he was not contacted by you or your lawyer. What I have is very compromising. You have the opportunity to acquire information in a low profile. Lately I have received proposals to acquire the material “, and he added:” as I already told you, the European press is salivating for more information from Doyen. I can’t keep the information still any longer. Sunday is the deadline, then save yourself if you can ”.

The witness complaining of extortion by Rui Pinto stated that the defendant never collaborated or worked for Doyen. He underlined again that he never considered paying the money that the defendant asked for between 500 thousand and one million euros.
