Atalanta Bergamo, with Remo Freuler holder, offered a magnificent victory over Roma (4-1) on Sunday during the 13th day of Serie A, demonstrating that they had the resources to win without their captain “Papu Gomez, dismissed after tensions with coach Gasperini.

The entry into play of Josip Ilicic, a great friend of Gomez in life, changed everything after the break: the Slovenian, finding the vista of his magnificent last season, offered the equalizer to Duvan Zapata (59th) then the 2 -1 to Robin Gosens (70th) before scoring the fourth goal himself on a superb solo action (85th)!

In the meantime, Luis Muriel had scored the third Lombard goal, just one minute after coming into play (72nd).

A post that changed everything

Atalanta Bergamo (7th) is relaunched in the standings, coming back to three points behind their opponent of the day, with a late match to play against Udinese.

Roma (4th), who had the opportunity to join Juventus in third place if successful, may regret not having been able to knock out a nervous and wait-and-see “Dea” at the start of the match in the first minutes.

Edin Dzeko, completely forgotten in front of the six meters, quickly opened the scoring for the Giallorossi (3rd). And Paulo Fonseca’s men could even have led 2-0 after ten minutes but the post returned the lob of Leonardo Spinazzola.

Gradually, they lost the thread in the face of the awakening of the “Dea”, collapsing as in Naples (0-4) a few weeks ago.

Inter remain second

Inter Milan secured the three points on Sunday at home against La Spezia (2-1), remaining one point behind AC Milan, thanks to goals in the second half from Achraf Hakimi (52nd), on a counterattack, and the inevitable Romelu Lukaku from the penalty spot (71st), for the eleventh goal in the Belgian international league.

Despite the reduction in La Spezia’s score at the end of the match (Piccoli, 94th), Inter did not give up their sixth consecutive victory in the league.

Join Naples

Naples can no longer do it when he plays far from his Maradona stadium, beaten Sunday at the Olimpico stadium in Rome by Lazio (2-0), four days after his loss at San Siro against Inter Milan (1-0).

A header from Ciro Immobile (9th) – his eighth goal of the season – and a worked strike from Luis Alberto (56th) offer three valuable points to Lazio (8th), who remained on two defeats at home against Udinese (1 -3) and Verona (1-2).

Napoli (5th) never seemed able to challenge the Lazial victory, the Roman goalkeeper Pepe Reina having hardly had to work except on a strike from Fabian Ruiz (18th) in the first half.

Deprived in attack of Victor Osimhen, still injured, but also Lorenzo Insigne, suspended after his exclusion in Milan on Wednesday, Gennaro Gattuso still misses an important meeting.

Napoli, whose ambition is to return to the Champions League next season, have lost many of their matches against direct competitors since the start of the season: against Juventus on the green carpet and Inter, but also against Milan (1-3) or Sassuolo (0-2). Fifth, he misses the opportunity to overtake Roma (4th) and now sees the gap widening with the top three made up of Milan, Inter and Juventus.
