Farewell to Paolo Rossi – Football

Paolo Rossi, the unforgettable “Pablito” of the 1982 World Cup, died at the age of 64.

He was afflicted with an incurable disease, the announcement was made by his wife, Federica Cappelletti, with a post on Instagram. The photo portrays the two spouses close and smiling and is accompanied by the comment “Forever”, followed by a heart.

Rossi was born in Prato and had played with the shirts of Juventus, Vicenza, Como, Perugia, Milan, Verona. Rossi played the most important match in Barcelona in the World Cup in Spain, scoring three goals against Brazil in the decisive match to reach the semifinals. Rossi then scored two goals for Poland and one for Germany in the grand final at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.

Together with Baggio and Vieri he holds the record for goals in blue at the World Cup at an altitude of 9. With Juve he won two league titles, a Cup Winners’ Cup, a Uefa Super Cup and a Champions Cup, with Vicenza a Serie B championship.

After his career as a footballer Rossi he worked extensively for Mediaset and Rai as a columnist. He leaves his wife, Federica, and three children: Sofia Elena, Maria Vittoria and Alessandro.
