Gallen kept his unbeaten boxing record intact with an impressive win over UFC legend Hunt.

Gallen was undoubtedly the busier of the two fighters. With his fitness, speed, and stamina, the 39-year-old country looked the lion’s share of the punches.

Hunt landed the heaviest punches throughout the competition, however, and appeared to have Gallen in trouble more than once after brutal headshots.

Gallen admitted that a certain shot from Hunt had rocked him early on in the fight.

“He hit me with something on the second lap and I don’t even know what it was. I didn’t even know whether I hit the deck or not, but it was really good for me, ”said Gallen.

In the end, Judge Brad Vocale scored the fight 59-55 in favor of Gallen, while the other two judges Will Soulos and John Cauchi scored the former rugby star 58-56.

Many viewers were furious when the result was announced after the fight.

“A terrible and wrong decision,” tweeted Daily Telegraph journalist Nick Campton.

“Fair play for Gallen, it’s very tough, but that’s a bad reputation after a bad fight.

“Should be 4-2 Hunt. Gallen is very tough and fought well, but it makes me sad that it was so close. “

Channel 7 sports reporter Chris Garry agreed, adding, “A clear win for Hunt, but Gallen fought well and would always score a decisive win.”

Gallen’s victory divides the audience

While many viewers agreed that Hunt should have won, others argued that Gallen’s win was the right reputation.

Gallen a “deserved” winner

Hunt, in his first boxing match in 20 years, didn’t expect him to distance himself, but he got Gallen to use all his brand stamina to make the decision.

In his honor, the 46-year-old UFC legend quickly congratulated his opponent after the fight.

“Congratulations to Paul Gallen on the well-deserved victory. You have my respect. Part-time fighters hit my ass, “wrote Hunt. after posting a picture of his injured face on social media.

“But I had so much fun getting back in the ring tonight.”

Gallen landed two quick punches to finish the first round before Hunt responded with his heavy blow in the second.

The Super Samoan had literally nailed Gallen to the ropes, but could not land the knockout blow.

The pair raised the stakes and traded a series of heavy punches on rounds three and four, with Hunt leaving Gallen wobbly with a massive left hook.

The ex-Sharks captain showed incredible courage to keep going, especially after Hunt opened it over the left eye on the fifth round.

Gallen said before the fight that he did not know how much more his body had to give.

After improving his record to 10 wins and one draw, he quickly proclaimed UFC middleweight superstar Robert Whittaker as his next target.

“I saw you in an interview about a year ago when you were asked if you would fight me,” said Gallen about his Australian compatriot.

“He said, yes, I would fight him, but he wouldn’t fight me and laughed condescendingly.

“I’m here, and I am happy to meet you here, but stop trying to convince yourself.”
