A perspective view of the winning work for the 2nd ward sports center design contest
[아시아경제 박종일 기자] Gangdong-gu (Lee Jeong-hoon, head of the ward office) is starting to build the second ward residents’ sports center in 301 Gangil-dong.
This is to promote health and support leisure activities for residents in Gangil-dong and Sangil-dong, whose population is rapidly increasing due to large-scale development projects.
Goo announced that the work of the Beom C&C Architects Office was selected as the final winning work as a result of the design contest for the selection of the final design company for the construction of the second ward sports center.
Under the theme of’Green CUBE’, this work harmonized with the surrounding landscape, and received good reviews for enhancing the convenience of residents through rational space arrangement.
Also, the design as an eco-friendly zero-energy building attracted attention.
The 2nd Residents’ Sports Center will be built as a complex sports facility with a total floor area of 7589m2, 3 underground and 4 floors above ground and equipped with a swimming pool, gym, badminton court, and multipurpose gymnasium.
In 2018, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism participated in the’Life-oriented National Sports Center Construction Support Project’ and secured 2.9 billion won in national expenditure.
It aims to complete the detailed design in 2021, start construction in April 2022, and complete it in October 2024.
Jeong-hoon Lee, head of Gangdong-gu, said, “We will closely promote the 2nd Residents’ Sports Center to be built in Gangil-dong to meet the growing demand for daily sports and to create a space that supports the healthy daily life of residents.”
