Drew Brees returns to his post

Just over a month after breaking his ribs and puncturing a lung, Drew Brees will return as a starting quarterback to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday when they face off against the Chiefs of Kansas City.

That’s what ESPN learned on Friday.

On November 15, in a clash with the San Francisco 49ers, the 41-year-old was hit hard, leading to his serious injuries.

Brees has therefore missed his club’s last four outings. In his absence, it was Taysom Hill who took his place and the Saints maintained a 3-1 record.

With Brees behind the center, the New Orleans side kept a 7-2 record. The veteran had completed 73.5% of his passes for 2,196 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Thomas absent

The Saints will also be deprived of the services of wide receiver Michael Thomas against the Chiefs. The latter is injured in an ankle. It will be the seventh game the 27-year-old footballer will miss this season. He was absent due to the same injury and a one-match suspension imposed by his club.

In 2020, Thomas caught 40 passes for 438 yards. The 2019 NFL Offensive MVP recipient still hasn’t found the pay zone this season.

The Saints (10-3) are currently tied with the Green Bay Packers for the top of the National Association. Remember that this year, only one team per Association will obtain a bye for the first round of the playoffs.
