Dortmund coach Favre speaks of ‘disaster’ after a shocking home defeat | NOW

The heavy home defeat against VfB Stuttgart has hit coach Lucien Favre hard. The German top club lost 1-5 against the PhD student on Saturday.

“It was very bad, a catastrophe”, Favre concluded after the third loss in a row in his own Signal Iduna Park. “This just can’t be done.”

Dortmund finished second behind Bayern Munich for the past two seasons, but this season seems to be a long way off for the German title. With nineteen points from eleven games, the team is in fifth place.

“We just weren’t there today. We have made too many big mistakes as a team,” said Favre. “At the moment it is still difficult to analyze it properly.”

Due to the bad start of the competition, the pressure is increasing on the 63-year-old trainer, who is in his third season at ‘BVB’. Chairman of the board Hans-Joachim Watzke wants to see improvement quickly.

“We have to analyze this. If you lose at home 5-1, then it’s a black day. I don’t know when we last lost with such numbers. It doesn’t feel right.”
