The deputy for Public Works, Óscar Liria, has visited the reception and commissioning of a work that has been 100% financed by the Provincial Institution

Specifically, the action consisted of the installation of a drinking water treatment system from the survey called La Estación to increase quality up to the standards established by the sanitary criteria of water for human consumption.

Liria has highlighted the importance of this work because it is supra-municipal in scope: “From the deposit in which the treated water will be regulated, it will be distributed to the homes in the neighborhoods of two municipalities. This work reflects the union of this region and the solidarity that characterizes the people of Almería ”, he detailed.

In the same way, the vice-president also recalled that this work guarantees water suitable for human consumption, ensuring that the City Council of Gérgal no longer has to use mobile water tanks to satisfy the population’s demand for water.

In addition, the mayor of Gérgal added that “today is a very important day because we are responding to a hydraulic problem. Through these actions, jointly between administrations, we manage to equalize opportunities among all the residents of the municipality ”.

For her part, the Pediatric Mayor of Las Alcubillas stated that “Thanks to the Almería Provincial Council, the most basic demands of the neighbors are satisfied in the smaller municipalities. With this action the water supply is guaranteed, which is a boost for the Las Alcubillas district ”.

The installation of the water treatment plant will be attached to the existing municipal tank with a filtration system with a treatment capacity of 3.3 l / s. For this, a glass fiber reinforced polyester tank has been placed that houses a filter material made up of 200 kg of a flint layer and 1,050 kg of a compound based on natural zeolites coated with manganese dioxide. This material, in addition to reducing the turbidity of the water caused by particles larger than 3 microns, will eliminate the presence of iron and manganese through a catalytic reaction.

Thanks to the new water treatment station built by the Almería Provincial Council, the inhabitants of the neighborhoods of Las Alcubillas and La Estación can now have water suitable for human consumption, ensuring compliance with the parametric quality values set by the national regulations on water for human consumption.
