Covid, Filippo Magnini positive: “It will be a strange Christmas”

Filippo Magnini tested positive for Covid-19. The announcement of the positivity was made by the same swimmer from Pesaro who last week had taken part in the Winter Absolutes in Riccione, his great return to competitions after the acquittal of doping charges by the Tas of Lausanne.

One of the first Italian swimmers to test positive for the coronavirus was Federica Pellegrini, then Laura Letrari, Elena Di Liddo and today also Benedetta Pilato. “Unfortunately today I tested positive for Covid-19 – wrote the two-time world champion of the 100 freestyle – I used every precaution to avoid contagion but it was not enough. Now the biggest concern is for my family, I hope I have not infected anyone ».

Magnini, 38, added that he immediately went into solitary confinement. «I decided to make it public to ensure that all the people who have been in contact with me take the right precautions – continued the swimmer – this Christmas will be strange. The mere thought of not being able to hold my daughter for at least the next 10 days makes me distressed. Not being able to cuddle my heart (referring to my partner Giorgia Palmas, ed) makes me sad but I can’t give up. Now my path towards overcoming another obstacle begins ».
