Charles De Ketelaere, from tennis player to football player: “It was luxury” | Jupiler Pro League

At Friday’s Sports Gala, Charles De Ketelaere spoke about his past as a tennis player, a passage that was colored by images of a young De Ketelaere on the tennis court.

“Whether the choice between tennis and football was difficult? Not really, actually. They said I should make a choice, but when I stopped playing tennis, I didn’t necessarily have to,” explains De Ketelaere.

“But somehow I had had enough of it. At that age you trained on your own. I had the choice, probably luxury.”

“But then I would much rather play football with my friends in the evenings than play tennis alone for an hour.”

“Then everything was fun. Still now, but then it was just fun. But it was not a difficult choice.”
