Carlos Taberner and Roberto Carballés are on the verge of winning in Portugal and Brazil | I practice sport

Carlos Taberner and Roberto Carballés have had to settle for being finalists in the Maia ATP Challenger (Portugal) and in the Campinas tournament (Brazil) respectively, after both have completed two great weeks without the final prize of the title.

And the two have stayed really close, because they both sold out all three sets in their finals.

The Valencian Taberner yielded to the local player Pedro Sousa, who ended up winning 6-0, 5-7 and 6-2. Of course, this great result returns the Spanish tennis player to the Top 150, in fact, he rises to position number 143 of the ATP, which is the best position of his life to date.

And it is that he has completed a great season, with a title included in the Iasi tournament (Romania). Along with that victory and this last final, Taberner also reached the last match in the tournaments of Banja Luka (Bosnia & Herzegovina) y Sibiu (Romania).

Besides Taberner, there were other Spaniards in Portugal competing. Bernabé Zapata said goodbye to Pedro Sousa himself in the semifinals, after falling 6-4 and 6-1, while another of the Valencian stars of the year, Pedro Martínez Goalkeeper, who started as the first seed of the box, fell in the first round against Italian Andrea Arnaboldi by a resounding 6-1 and 6-2.

Carballés, without luck in the final

Regarding the performance of Roberto Carballés in the Campinas tournament, he was left without the final victory after losing in the title match against the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, who has won the Spanish player by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.

The Granada-born tennis player, at 27, returns to the top 100 thanks to this fantastic result. It is ranked number 97 in the world, yes, still far from its best position in the ATP, which was number 72 in the month of February 2018.

Carballés has thus completed a period of good results, since he came from being a quarterfinalist last week in Lima (Peru) and semifinalist in Guayaquil (Ecuador) the above.
