BG Göttingen: 72:90 lost in Munich and Gutiérrez

After the 77:89 defeat last Friday in Crailsheim, there was nothing for the BG Göttingen to inherit at Bayern Munich. The violets lost 72:90 (33:48) and on top of that Jorge Gutiérrez, who was eliminated with a groin injury in the middle of the second quarter.

Munich – BG coach Roel Moors changed the starting line-up, bringing in captain Akeem Vargas instead of Aubray Dawkins. Jorge Gutiérrez scored the first four points for the BG to 4: 4, Luke Nelson provided the first lead at 6: 5 before Gutiérrez scored to 7: 6. The violets initially kept up well, even if Bayern moved away at 17:12 and 19:14 when new signing DJ Seeley was first used. But Dennis Kramer and a three-point game by BG newcomer Will Rayman brought the guests the 19:19 balance. Galen Robinson was able to equalize at 21:21 after the first ten minutes.

Aubray Dawkins then scored at the beginning of the second quarter to 24:23 for the Göttingen – the last lead. Since the BG quickly collected five team fouls, the remaining minutes in the second quarter of Munich free throws were determined by the line – not a nice basketball. After the 26:26 the BGern didn’t succeed, while the Bavarians put down a 9-0 run and set the score to 35:26 before Gutiérrez finally scored again – also with free throws. It was already his last action, because shortly afterwards he went down on his knees at the center line, holding onto the left groin. On the bench after 15:30 minutes, game over for the Mexican. Robinson took over “Gutis” job as pointguard, but he acted too flawed and showed weaknesses in the final as well as several other BGers.

So Munich continued to stand out – and the BG had to let Bayern have their way. 48:33 at break, the defeat was already clear. Also because the violets only hit one (Nelson) of 10 threesomes. The Center Tai Odiase, which is still outstanding in Crailsheim, hardly came into its own – without a point at the break.

Across quarters, Bayern came to their next 12-0 series, when it was 55:35. 25 minutes were over when Rayman conceded his fourth foul. Coach Moors gave it a break behind the sideline. The Munich team kept their lead at 20 points, for the BG team, who allowed 20 Munich offensive rebounds, it was only a matter of being as respectable as possible In the third section Nelson Weidemann was allowed to try his hand at building up the game, but it was only in the final round that the FC Bayern player awarded the first points from the field.

After it was 74:50 after 30 minutes, Bayern took it easy in the final quarter and managed their clear lead until the end of the one-sided game. The BGers won the last quarter with 22:16, because Dawkins also added points and became the top scorer with 18 points. In the end, it was the expected defeat for the Violets. There’s hardly anything left in Munich.
