Baltimore Ravens WR Dez Bryant says he tested positive just before kick-off

BALTIMORE – Raven’s broad receiver, Dez Bryant, surprisingly announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 just 30 minutes before his much-anticipated reunion with the Dallas Cowboys Tuesday night.

“Tell me why they are pulling me off the warm up so I can get tested,” Bryant wrote. “… I have tested positive for Covid.

“The crazy thing is, I have the same damn routine. … that’s — makes no sense to me.”

He then said he would not be returning this season.

“Yeah, I’ll go ahead and call it over for the rest of the season,” Bryant wrote on Twitter. “… I can’t handle that.”

Shortly after Bryant’s first tweet, the Ravens announced that Bryant had been scratched from illness.

Bryant was on the field about two hours before kick-off, receiving passes from backup quarterback Trace McSorley. He crossed his arms for his signature “X” before going down the tunnel to the locker room.

Bryant was noticeably absent, however, when Baltimore held its warm-up exercises for the entire team.

32-year-old Bryant was supposed to play the Cowboys for the first time since Dallas two years ago. Days ahead of the game, Bryant said it was “an exciting moment” playing against the team he’d spent eight seasons with and posted a franchise record of 73 touchdowns.

He is the first Ravens player in a week to test positive. The Ravens were just involved in one of the biggest breakouts in professional sports. More than a dozen players tested positive within 10 days.

After Bryant joined the Ravens exercise group on October 27, he was added to the active squad four weeks later. In three games, Bryant had little influence on the NFL’s 31st passing attack, scoring four catches for 28 yards.
