Asked by our Romanian colleagues from Digisport, Simona Halep spoke widely on the situation of Roger Federer. It’s rather charming because Simon Halep is a fan of the Swiss player. When she was a junior at the Wimbledon tournament, she even went to see the Swiss to get … an autograph: “I didn’t know how to react, I shyly handed him my badge, and I asked him if he could give me an autograph.. He was very warm and even though he was already the star at the time, I remember he had a few words of encouragement ” Simona explains still moved. Moreover, the Romanian player really apprehends the moment when Roger will no longer be on the circuit: “When he retires it will be a tragedy for all of us. What he accomplished is enormous and he will remain an idol for a whole generation. We will have to respect his decision because life means something other than tennis ”
