América de Cali: the champion will have a short rest and will prepare for 2021 | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

In this atypical year, América de Cali had no time for celebrations, since a few hours after arriving from Bogotá, where it achieved its 15th star in Colombian soccer, its players immediately left for a short vacation before facing a tight season the next year.

All must return on January 4 to start physical reconditioning work and the strategic part, taking into account that this year the competition will restart in the first fortnight of that month.

Coach Juan Cruz did not return with the squad, but traveled to the United States this Monday morning, directly from the capital of the Republic, to spend these days with his family.

With an indefinite contract, Cruz Real will have the mission of leading the team in the Copa Libertadores and in local competitions, after winning the 15th star with five months in office, after having replaced Alexandre Guimaraes.

The Argentine was able to face all kinds of criticism, first because of his appointment and then because of the defensive and offensive problems that accompanied the institution, which left him without the Super League, on the outside in the Copa Libertadores and without a place in Suramericana. But he straightened the charges and achieved the necessary balance to be today celebrating the two-time championship of the ‘Mechita’.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Éder Chaux, who would reach Junior, will not continue at the club, while the continuity of John Arias is an issue that managers will discuss with their Patriotas peers, from Boyacá. For both players there is a purchase option. With Carlos José Sierra and Juan David Pérez, who are owned by the club, their future has not yet been defined.

On the other hand, the former Equidad goalkeeper Diego Novoa and the central defenders Jeison Malagón (from Pasto) and Óscar Cabezas (former Rosario Central), are the new additions of the two-time Colombian champion, although the managers are in search of other reinforcements.
