Also in Charleroi drama for Anderlecht in the end: down …

The curve flattens. After the recent 6 out of 6, Anderlecht lost in a weak match in the absolute final in Charleroi: 1-0 Again those damn last minutes. This time goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther let a shot by Ali Golizadeh – or should we say GOAL-izadeh – slip in the last second. A match lasted only 80 minutes for RSCA.

Mr. and Mrs. of apartment 3, 14th floor, Rue de la Neuville. We know what you were doing at 9:15 pm. Don’t be shy about that: it wasn’t watching The Masked Singer. The apartment building in Rue de la Neuville opens onto the Charleroi stadium. The fact that our attention was diverted to scenes above the stands says enough about the match. The couple did not score too high on the scale of Adonis, according to our eagle gaze, but there was nothing to do on the field.

In the first half there was really not one goal attempt. Such matches are quickly described as intensive and that is true. Anderlecht put a lot of pressure, but Charleroi kept things closed. It was one big lockdown and both teams took the bad passes. But a little more danger and threat, isn’t it? We understood well that they had 3 things to do in the apartment than to watch this spectacle on their cold terrace.

Flap over and out?

Vincent Kompany had opted for more experience after the 2-1 victory against KV Oostende with an ultra-young team. The trio Miazga-Cullen-Tau made its return at the expense of Lissens, El Hadj and Vlap. For the Dutchman that was another heavy blow. Peter Zulj has already been told that he can leave, but what is Michel Vlap’s future at RSCA? Kompany likes dynamic footballers who press and the latter two are too static. Although it must be said that Percy Tau did not give home at Mambourg either.

Another notable choice was the fishing of Sardella as a left back. Mykhaylicenko was sitting on the bench and the 19-year-old had to pull his strings. That went with ups and downs. He tried to play football, but sometimes lost out in the duels. The fact that we are reeling from individual assessments here did not bode well about the match.

Suddenly, the sliding door to apartment three opened. Glowing fire, smoking a cigarette. The gentleman from Rue de la Neuville stuck his nose at the window for a moment. Anderlecht also had to do that after the break and it actually went a bit better. Until then, Lukas Nmecha had been well kept out of the game, but in minute 59 he was put in front of the keeper. Penneteau saved well. Finally a real goal shot. Finally football to warm us up.

We had to be satisfied quickly. The Purple & White now had more ball possession, but did not convert that into opportunities. It didn’t go fast enough, while the Karolos kept on looking for that one chance, that one counter. That almost worked when Wellenreuther played badly and especially when Nicholson once rashly banged over. Charleroi seemed content with a point. However, Karim Belhocine kept pumping down the line. Berahino had come on for the injured Fall after 3 minutes, but was replaced after 76 minutes.

Visser speaks

Kompany also made changes. Bundu came before the weak Mukairu, but that Colassin replaced Tau was more striking. Even Antoine Colassin now prefers Vlap. It did not directly change the game image. Ref Visser drew some attention to him when he loudly called out to Amuzu Quiet Cis, but it was Charleroi that still had the best opportunities in the last ten minutes, also known as Kompany Time. Goalkeeper Wellenreuther first saved two attempts by Bruno and Golizadeh. But when the extra time had just passed, the Iranian fired again. This time the German let the ball shoot. Until now he had hardly made any mistakes, but the call for Van Crombrugge will now sound loud.

Anderlecht looked forward to its third defeat – again in the final phase – and failed to jump to second place over Charleroi. Kompany went in furiously. The light went out in apartment 3 on the 14th floor. They were ready for the extra time.
