Defending champion Alba Berlin starts the group stage of the German Basketball Cup with the game against the Braunschweig lions. The BBL announced this on Friday. The game will take place on October 18 (6 p.m. / Magenta Sport) in Bonn. Co-favorite Bayern Munich will meet medi Bayreuth at its premiere on the same day (8.30 p.m.) in Weißenfels. The start of the cup mode, which has been changed due to the coronavirus pandemic, with initially four regional tournaments, will contest ratiopharm Ulm in its own hall against Brose Bamberg on October 17th.
There will be a total of four regional qualification tournaments in Vechta, Weißenfels, Bonn and Ulm. The three preliminary round game days take place on 17./18. and on 24/25/26 October. Only the group winners will fight for the cup in another tournament on November 1st and 2nd. It is not yet clear where the Top Four final event will take place.
