After being eliminated from the Liguilla, another coach would leave Colombian football | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

This Friday it was known that Rionegro Águilas would be left without a coach. The Venezuelan Francesco Stifano who was announced for 2020 would not be in the plans for next year, this after being in the fight to enter the eight but not accessing the semifinals in the eliminated Liguilla.

The Golden Eagles arrived as favorites in their Liguilla group, after making an outstanding campaign in the all against all. In the three matches he played, he drew 1-1 with Envigado, 2-2 with Pereira and in his last outing he fell 1-2 against Independiente Medellín, which meant his elimination. Finally, the one who entered the next phase for group A was Deportivo Pereira.

The departure of Francisco Stifano joins that of other coaches who left the position at the end of the League or after closing their participation, such as César Torres (Alianza Petrolera), Juan Carlos Osorio (Atlético Nacional) and Javier Álvarez ( Independiente Medellín), who have already been replaced by Wilson Gutiérrez, Alexandre Guimaraes and Hernán ‘Bolillo’ Gómez, respectively.

Stifano, 41, came to Colombian soccer after leading six clubs in his country, including Zamora, Deportivo Táchira and Zulia.

It should be noted that the arrival of the Venezuelan in December 2019 prevented Luis Fernando ‘Chonto’ Herrera from taking over the Aguilas sports project in 2020, after a prominent campaign at the helm of Atlético Huila. For this reason, it is not ruled out that the Antioqueño will be on the radar again in the eastern cast.
