African Judo Championships (F): Assmaa Niang and Hortence Vanessa Mballa Atangana ensure the sp

In Antananarivo, the judoka of German origin, Marie Branser, offered the Democratic Republic of Congo its first continental title thanks to her victory in -78 kg.

South African Genronay Whitebooi (-48 kg) and Bissau-Guinean Taciana Cesar, gold medalists last year, retained their titles.

Moroccan Assmaa Niang, used to the IJF circuit, won in the -70kg category. Seventh at the Budapest Grand Slam in October, she beat Cameroonian Ayuk Otay Arrey Sophina in the tournament final.

In the + 78kg category, Hortence Vanessa Mballa Atangana was overwhelmingly favorite. Vice-champion of Africa last year, 3rd at the Grand Slam in Budapest at the beginning of the year, she won the gold medal by beating the Algerian Sonia Asselah in her last fight.
