Zverev denies allegations of domestic abuse by an ex-girlfriend

PARIS – Alexander Zverev again denied domestic abuse allegations of a former girlfriend who said the German tennis player tried to strangle her with a pillow ahead of the US Open last year.

Zverev was asked about Olga Sharypova’s allegation on Wednesday after beating Miomir Kecmanovic in the second round of the Paris Masters tournament.

“I said everything on my Instagram. I can’t add anything else right now. I am here to play tennis. I mean, as I said, the relationship was over for a long time, “said Zverev. “I enjoy my time on the pitch. I’ve said everything. You (the allegations) are not true, and I can’t say anything more at the moment. “

Last week, Olga Sharypova gave an interview to a Russian sports website in which she claimed the strangulation attempt and hit Zverev’s head against a wall in a New York hotel before the tournament and said she was afraid for her life.

Another ex-girlfriend, Brenda Patea, recently announced that she is pregnant with Zverev’s child, which the German confirmed on Twitter.

Zverev didn’t mention either Patea or pregnancy when answering a question about how he could focus on playing given all the off-field events.

“Well, I’m here to play tennis. You know I’ve done well for the past few weeks. I mean, since the comeback (restart) of the season, and I want to continue to do so, ”said Zverev after beating Kecmanovic 6-2, 6-2. “As you said, there is obviously a little going on. I think there is some very good news. “
