Two Liverpool goals against Brighton & Hove Albion were disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee. Five times VAR has canceled a goal The Reds in the league since the start of the season.
Liverpool had a bad luck when they drew 1-1 against Brighton at Ammex Stadium, Saturday (28/11/2020) evening WIB, in Week 10 of the Premier League. Pascal Gross replied to Diogo Jota’s goal with a penalty kick in second half injury time.
Liverpool actually has a chance to win this match. Juergen Klopp’s squad scored two other goals scored by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but all of them vanished along with the VAR decision.
Salah’s goal in the first half vanished after VAR judged the Egyptian King to be offside with just a toe. Meanwhile, Mane’s goal was disallowed by VAR because the Senegalese player was deemed offside when he headed the ball into the goal.
VAR also played a part in Brighton’s goal. The latest football technology reviewed the fouls that Andrew Robertson committed to Danny Welbeck in the forbidden box, until finally a penalty was awarded The Seagulls.
Launch reports Mirror, this is not the first time a Liverpool goal has been canceled by VAR. The Brighton vs Liverpool duel appears to be the fourth match in the league where there are goals The Reds that is disallowed.
Liverpool’s first goal to be disallowed by VAR came in a Merseyside Derby against Everton on October 17, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Jordan Henderson scored the winner in second-half injury time, but it was canceled because VAR elbowed Mane offside during the goal.
One week later, VAR again annulled Liverpool’s goal The Reds 2-1 win over Sheffield United. Salah had scored a goal in the second half, but his goal was considered offside.
Liverpool’s third goal that VAR canceled out came against West Ham United on November 1. Jota scored in the second half, but was ruled out after VAR determined Mane’s first foul.
