Will Müller, Boateng and Hummels return to the national team?

The 6-0 defeat of the German national team against Spain in the Nations League continues to have an effect. A resignation of national coach Joachim Löw is supposedly still possible, but a return of the once sorted out Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller and Jérôme Boateng is apparently also possible.

As the “Bild” speculates, no decision has been made about Löw’s future after the latest events. Both options are still on the table: a continuation of the collaboration or a separation from the 60-year-old.

As soon as the analysis of the events has been presented to the top of the association, President Fritz Keller and Co. will make a decision, they say.

Are Hummels, Boateng and Müller returning?

If Löw continues, the face of the national team could change significantly before the European championship next summer.

For example, “Bild” claims to have learned from unspecified sources that Löw should be open to a return of the sorted out trio Thomas Müller, Jérôme Boateng and Mats Hummels.

The national coach had never categorically ruled out a return of the former top performers. However, as Löw always restricted, he only wanted to fall back on the former national players if top performers from the current squad get injured and miss the European Championship.

The decision-making authority in this case lies with the national coach alone, as DFB vice Peter Peters recently confirmed to the “RND” once again: “These sporting assessments and evaluations are the national coach’s basic competence. Deciding something like this is their competence it’s in the right hands too. “

Löw took over the job of national coach from Jürgen Klinsmann after the 2006 World Cup.
