Two flyweight title fights top UFC 255 headlines in Las Vegas as Deiveson Figueiredo defends his belt against Alex Perez for the first time and Valentina Shevchenko puts her gold on the line again against Jennifer Maia.
Figueiredo, fresh from a July win over Joseph Benavidez that earned him the £ 125 title, hit the headlines on Sunday’s (AEDT) pay-per-vew card. In the co-main event, Shevchenko will try to record her fourth defense of the title in a division she made herself.
Also on the UFC 255 main card, Mike Perry, missing 4.5 pounds, faces Tim Means in a welterweight showdown, Katlyn Chookagian faces Cynthia Calvillo in another women’s flyweight bout, and Mauricio Rua and Paul Craig face each other in the light of heavyweight competition.

CRAZY ROUND SEND UFC WORLD WILD
The first round in the first fight on the Sunday card will be tough to beat today and maybe this year.
Louis Cosce and Sasha Palatnikov, both on the debut, had the UFC world open-mouthed, wondering how the hell we got to a second round in a fight that eventually slowed down before heading to a TKO win in the third round of Palatnikov exploded again.
At the welterweight showdown Cosce was 7-0 and seven knockout games in the first round. And he certainly started strong, injuring Palatnikov early on with a whipping, where Joe Rogan said in a comment, “That’s it”.
But it wasn’t.
Palatnikov survived the punishment and dealt his own in a first round of two halves – both fighters landed 51 significant hits each in the first five minutes.
“Insane this first round,” said Rogan. “Absolute madness.”
Cosce, gassed from finding the early target, ultimately couldn’t keep up with Palatnikov, who was a great underdog who went into battle.
I’m so glad Joe Rogan is great at this random UFC opener.
It’s some wild rock-em-sock-em-shit, to be fair!# UFC255
