Thunder won’t trade Chris Paul to uncompetitive team

Oklahoma City Thunder star Chris Paul is a likely candidate to be traded this NBA offseason as the team is looking to shed his massive contract. In recent days, several reports have emerged about possible destinations for Paul, and the Lakers and Knicks seem the top candidates to stay with the veteran’s services as a result of the preferences that the base would have about their next place to live.

However, according to Ryen Russillo, a journalist from The Ringer, the point guard will have a say in where he lands, and it will not be a bad team. “They have told me that they are not going to send Chris Paul to a place where he does not compete,” said the journalist. “He will have something to say.”

This would likely rule out the New York Knicks, who are still in a rebuilding with no big breakthroughs expected so soon. On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers could emerge as favorites as the team is expected to be a contender for the title once again next season. In such a situation, the experience that a talent like CP3 it would be more than welcome.

Lastly, Rusillo has mentioned that the Los Angeles Clippers could also be a possibility. After the catastrophic end of the season, in which they were eliminated at the hands of the Nuggets, it is rumored that the Angelenos would be willing to make big moves in their roster. Bringing Paul back could be an interesting option if they can make the salaries add up.
