The quarter-finals of the Sofia Open will be played on Thursday

The quarter-finals of the ATP 250 in Sofia have already been decided and there were four great games left that went beyond eliminating the first two seeds. The Thursday activity will be opened by Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, who finished off the 2020 season superbly.

The current number 35 in the world will meet the powerful Moldovan server Radu Albot for the first time in his career, who executes the top seed for the title (Denis Shapovalov) in the first round.

Later, in a great game, the Australian Alex de Minaur and the Italian Jannik Sinner face each other. De Minaur, the third seed, will have the difficult task of facing one of the main talents of the “NextGen”.

The two players did not meet on the Pro Tour either. In the third round, the Australian John Millman, who was sixth in the draw and champion at the Astana Open a few weeks ago, will meet the Canadian Vasek Pospisil.

They already have a showdown on the ATP Tour and Pospisil won. Finally, the Italian Salvatore Caruso, the executioner of Félix Auger-Aliassime in the round of 16, meets the always dangerous French player Richard Gasquet.

It will also be an unprecedented duel in the ATP, with the French player as the favorite. These are the four games that will be played tomorrow at the Sofia Open. The eight survivors have an equal chance of reaching the throne of the Bulgarian event.

Auger Alissime came confidently to Sofia after the double win in Paris

The Canadian player looked forward to ending the year on a high note with a good performance at the 2020 Sofia Open. But like his compatriot Denis Shapovalov he lost on his tournament debut, so Felix will have to wait until next year to get his first single title, as he won the first double trophy with his teammate Hubert Hurkacz last week.
