The Impact remains in ninth place

The Montreal Impact received a precious helping hand from Minnesota United FC, who drew a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire on Wednesday in Saint Paul.

By virtue of this result, the Impact remains narrowly in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a good 7-13-2 record for 23 points. The Fire (5-9-8, 23 points) shows a similar harvest of points, but the Bleu-Blanc-Noir keeps the advantage with the tiebreaker, that is to say the number of victories.

The Illinois team had yet taken the lead by two goals, courtesy of Robert Beric and Mauricio Pineda. Jose Aja and Robin Lod, however, responded in turn to create a tie.

Robert Beric thought he had given the victory to the Fire in the added time at the end of the game, but the referee reversed the decision after the restart due to an offside.

However, the task remains complicated for the Montreal eleven. Indeed, Atlanta United FC (6-12-4, 22 points), Inter Miami (6-13-3, 21 points) and DC United (5-11-6, 21 points) can hope to get ahead. the Bleu-Blanc-Noir, while all the teams have yet to play one last game before the end of the regular calendar.

The Impact has a date with DC United on Sunday. The same day, Chicago will face New York City FC, Miami will cross swords with Cincinnati and Atlanta will face the Columbus Crew.

Orlando gets the “bye”

In a third-place match in Major League Soccer (MLS) East, Orlando City SC ignored a red card to defeat the Crew 2-1 and take the lead in Florida.

Benji Michel however went there with an individual effort to give the victory to the local favorites with his fifth goal of the campaign, in the 84th minute.

Orlando grabbed third place with a good 11-3-8 record for 41 points, and secured a pass for the first round of the playoffs. The Crew (38 points) will have to make sure to beat New York City FC (36 points) to have the same privilege. The two clubs still have a game to play.
