The Dallas Cowboys suffered a heavy loss on Wednesday with the sudden death of their physical training coordinator Markus Paul. The cause of the death of the 54-year-old man is not known.

Victim of a medical emergency Tuesday morning at Cowboys headquarters, Paul was immediately taken care of by the team’s medical staff. He was transported to a hospital in Frisco, where he died on Wednesday surrounded by his family.

As a player, Paul played with the Chicago Bears between 1989 and 1993. The Marauder concluded his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993.

He went on to become a fitness coach in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints (1998-1999), New England Patriots (2000-2004), New York Jets (2005-2006), New York Giants (2007-2018) and Cowboys (2018-2020). He’s been part of five Super Bowl wins in his coaching role.

The Cowboys will pay tribute to Paul’s memory ahead of their Thursday game against the Washington football team.
