Already qualified for the semi-finals of the Masters of tennis in London, the Russian Daniil Medvedev (ATP 4) filled up in the first round by beating Friday 6-3 6-3, the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (ATP 9). He is the only player in the tournament to have won all of his matches.

Against Schwartzman, the Russian was also impressed by his ease in a match where he had little to gain, apart from 200 ATP points and $ 153,000 in “prize money”.

A little favorite

He took the service of the Argentinian three times, who had a difficult first in this Masters with three defeats in as many matches.

A disappointment that the Russian also experienced last year for his first participation. But Medvedev is now a slight favorite to win this last Masters in London and be the first Russian to lift the trophy since Nicolaï Davydenko in 2009, during the very first edition in the British capital.

In the semi-final on Saturday, Medvedev will face Spain’s Rafael Nadal (ATP 2), while earlier today, Novak Djokovic (ATP 1) secured his place in the last four against Dominic Thiem ( ATP 3) beating German Alexander Zverev (ATP 7) 6-3 7-6 (4).
