The two Bozen women, Yasmine Hamza and Katharina Fink, have already triumphed three times in a junior world ranking tournament. After South Africa last year, Lithuania and Portugal followed this year. On the Atlantic coast they won the double. In the individual, Hamza prevailed against her club colleague.

The two top players of the SBS Südtirol Badminton School (both tessered for the SSV Bozen) each qualified for the individual finals without losing a set. Just like a year ago in South Africa, Hamza (17), who was a year younger than Fink, prevailed against Fink, this time with 21:13, 21:19. In doubles they came to a safe victory. Both now hold 11 medals in junior world ranking tournaments.

At the Portuguese Junior International there were numerous cancellations due to corona. Until recently, almost only Portuguese players were at the start in Caldas da Rainha. “Sure, the sporting competition was only moderate, but tournament victories are always important for morale and winning where the opponents enjoy home advantage is more difficult than you might think,” says coach Csaba Hamza. “We were able to try out some new elements learned in training at the tournament, which can help the girls in world ranking tournaments in the general class in the coming years.” Hamza and Fink are among the top 20 in the junior world rankings. In doubles, they are number three in Europe.
