Schmidt 100% accuracy in free throws, Strautiņš “double-double”

Spain

Latvian basketball player Rolands Šmits scored 15 points in the Spanish Premier League (ACB) match on Sunday, putting his hand in the victory of the “Barcelona” team.

Barcelona won the Movistar Estudiantes in Madrid with 92:78 (25:14, 23:13, 24:25, 20:26).

Schmidt played 23 minutes and 48 seconds on the court, during which he made two of the three two-pointers and one of the five three-point shots in the basket, while no errors were made in the eight free throws.

He also won six rebounds, scored twice, made three mistakes, earned one personal note, provoked five fouls and ended the game with a +/- score of 1.

This was the second time this season that Schmidt stood out with 15 points in an ACB game.

Only Artyom Pustovy was more productive than Smith, with 18 points and five rebounds.

Due to Covid-19, ACB have played a number of different games in the tournament. “Barcelona” is second with seven successes in nine matches.

Last season, Vitoria’s “Baskonia” was crowned ACB champion, beating the “Barcelona” team in the final match of the mini-tournament.

Italy

Latvian basketball players Artūrs Strautiņš won 11 rebounds in the defense of the Italian A-series game on Sunday, which is a new personal record for the athlete, but it was not enough to save Varese’s “Openjob throw” from loss.

Varese’s “Openjobmetis” gave away 78:85 (21:16, 18:18, 18:27, 21:24) to “Pesaro”, who has already won three games in a row.

Strautiņš spent 35 minutes and 30 seconds on the court, during which he sent two of the three two-point shots and two of the six three-point shots to the basket. He also scored two points from the penalty line, where no mistakes were made.

Veteran Lewis School, with 22 points and six rebounds, was the most productive basketball player in the ranks of the Varese team, but Justin Robinson collected the same statistics in the second half.

On the first day of November, Strautiņš lost his performance record in the A series, losing 26 points, in the loss to Sassari, the Banco di Sardegna. He also set a new personal record in assists (five), long and long shots, assists, minutes played and efficiency points.

The Varese team with 14 successes in seven games in the A series ranks 14th among 16 teams.

Meanwhile, Parma conceded Krasnoyarsk’s Enisey on its field with 67:84 (15:20, 24:24, 15:17, 13:23), experiencing the first failure in three games.

“Parma” with six successes in three games in the VTB league takes the sixth place, but “Stelmet Enea” with one success in six duels is in the 12th position.

As in the previous season, 13 teams will start in this regular tournament – nine from Russia, as well as one unit each from Estonia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Poland.

The 2019/2020 league season ended prematurely due to a pandemic caused by the coronavirus, without finding out the champion. At the time of the termination of the championship, the first place was taken by the Moscow region “Khimki”, but the second place was taken by the Moscow CSKA.

In France

Latvian national basketball player Rihards Lomažs scored three points in the French championship match on Sunday, helping Wilberban’s ASVEL team celebrate the victory.

ASVEL won the Orleans on their court with 93:83 (18:19, 21:20, 24:20, 30:24).

Lomažs played for seven minutes and 47 seconds, during which one of the two long shots was fired in the basket, but the basketball player did not take two-point shots.

He also won one rebound, once scored and blocked the shot, earned two personal notes, made one mistake and ended the game with four efficiency points.

Matthew Strazel scored 20 points, but William Howard scored one less.

In the French championship ASVEL with three wins in five games ranks seventh among 18 clubs.
