The mayor of Naples feels that he is missing Diego Armando Maradona. Therefore, he agreed to immortalize the name Maradona at the San Paolo Stadium.

Maradona died of cardiac arrest at his home, Wednesday (11/25/2020) evening WIB. The former Argentinian footballer died at the age of 60.

Maradona spent his football career at Napoli for seven years. He arrived in the city of Naples in July 1984 after leaving Barcelona, ​​which spent two seasons with him.

Naturally, if Napoli and most of the citizens of the city of Napoles felt they had lost the figure of Maradona. For them, Maradona is ‘God’ because he succeeded in catapulting Napoli’s achievements.

While strengthening Napoli, Maradona gave two Serie A titles and one UEFA Cup title. Therefore the club wants the San Paolo stadium to be renamed to San Paolo-Maradona or Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, as a form of respect.

Like a tit for tat, Luigi De Magistri as the mayor of Naples also wants Maradona to be immortalized as the name of the 55 thousand-seat stadium.

“We will name the San Paolo stadium in honor of Diego Armando Maradona !,” De Magistris said on his Twitter account.
