Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is still chasing world records.

With his goal in the 7-0 win in the friendly against Andorra, the Portuguese national soccer player scored his 102nd international goal on Wednesday evening. So he is only 8 short of the sole record. So far, the former Iranian striker Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for his national team, holds that.

Ronaldo had passed the 100-goal mark in Portugal’s Nations League victory against Sweden in September with two goals. He scored against Andorra in the 85th minute with a header from close range to make it 6-0, but had previously missed some good chances.

The 35-year-old Juventus striker, who only recently survived a corona infection, is already by far Europe’s top goalscorer. Hungary’s legend Ferenc Puskas scored 84 goals for his home country and Spain. The Hungarian Sandor Kocsis scored 75 times. Behind them are the German world champions Miroslav Klose with 71 and Gerd Müller with 68 goals.
