“Rest in paradise, legend”: the farewell of Novak Djokovic – Télam

Diego once said: For me the number one is called Roger Federer, but Djokovic is a phenomenon “.

Serbian Novak Djokovic, number one in the ATP world ranking, said goodbye today to Diego Maradona, who died yesterday at 60 years of age, with a meaningful message on his social networks.

“Rest in peace, legend,” Djokovic wrote next to a photo of him with Diego, on a tennis court, both smiling.
Diego and Novak met in 2011, when the Argentine was the manager of Al Wasl, in the United Arab Emirates.

Diego once told about that day: “For me the number one is called Roger Federer, but Djokovic is a phenomenon, he told me that to train he had to know where the bombs were falling and they went elsewhere, I tell it with pride because I spent a day with him and I saw his gestures, his warmth and that he didn’t change at all ”.

The desire to meet was mutual and was driven by the Serbian. “What Nole didn’t know,” Diego said, “was that I wanted a signed shirt from him. That’s when we got together, he came to Abu Dhabi and we spent a day together, we rallied and we played soccer tennis ”.
