Due to injuries, the 34-year-old Righty has been limited to just 57 innings in 11 starts for the past two seasons, both with the Toronto Blue Jays. He had an ERA of 3.14 during that time along with 50 strikers.
Shoemaker joined the Blue Jays for one year in 2018 after six years with the Los Angeles Angels, where he set a 40-32 record and 3.93 ERA, and re-signed with the Blue Jays in the final off-season.
Shoemaker said last month that he prioritized a “good fit” in the free agency and was more than ready to return to Toronto.
“I just want to go to a team that is just hungry, right? And the Jays are hungry, man. We have this really young team who just love the game, fiery players, really talented. And just being part of this team for the past two years, just seeing the skills and seeing where they can go, just that kind of thing. “
