Jose Jorge Orobio Rosas, who was the president of the Mexican Federation of American Football since 1999, he passed away this Wednesday. This was announced by the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports in Mexico (CONADE), through their social networks.

The vice president of the federation, César Arturo Barrera Sánchez, confirmed in a statement that the death of Orobio Rosas occurred as a result of COVID-19.

“Today I am writing to you to give you very sad news, a person who for years has been at the forefront of our beloved sport, a person who served as president of the federation for many years, having many and very good achievements, making our football look good inside and outside of it. Today, the public accountant, Jorge Orobio Rosas has died, unable to overcome this fight against the dreaded virus of COVID-19, “he declared in a video that was published on the FMFA social networks.

Moments after the CONADE released the information, other organizations, in addition to teams from Mexico, added to the condolences after the loss of Jose Jorge Orobio Rosas, who at the beginning of 2020 was re-elected to remain as president of the Mexican Federation of American Football until 2024.
