Steve Smith could be crowned International Cricketer of the Decade next month after being nominated for the Sir Garfield Sobers Award from among seven players, including Indian superstar Virat Kohli.

Australian captain Meg Lanning and star all-rounder Ellyse Perry were also nominated as Player of the Decade. A panel of experts should vote on what could be considered the crowning glory of a career.

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc was nominated for the ODI Player of the Decade, and the captain with limited overruns, Aaron Finch, who has the highest T20 international score, was the only Aussie in the T20 player class of the decade.

The surprising omission from all categories was David Warner.

Indian bowler Ishant Sharma has been banned from the upcoming series of tests against Australia, with ongoing uncertainty as to whether batsman Rohit Sharma will suffer the same fate.

Skipper Virat Kohli asked if Rohit would be available for the four-game series that starts in three weeks.

“He played in the IPL so we all thought he was going to be on that flight to Australia, which he wasn’t,” said Kohli.

“And we had no information on why he wasn’t traveling with us. After that, the only other piece of information we officially received in the mail is that he is with the NCA and has been assessed. It will be evaluated on December 11th.

“There was no information, there was ambiguity and we have been playing the waiting game on this topic for some time. that’s not ideal at all. Yes, it was very confusing and there was a lot of uncertainty and confusion about the situation. ”

The Sydney Roosters couldn’t make it, the New South Wales Blues certainly couldn’t, and now the Brisbane Heat can join the unwanted club.

The heat plummeted in a thriller from the Sydney Thunder on Thursday night, ending their hunt for a coveted three-peat.

After the Brisbane-based team found themselves in a position where victory seemed inevitable, they stumbled over the final hurdle. A chaotic breakdown of 6/12 ended their WBBL campaign.

Given the heat required 26 out of 31 six-wicket balls at a stage, losing the semi-finals by 11 runs was a pathetic result.

The Thunder meets the Melbourne Stars on Saturday night.

The Australian and Indian players will wear black armbands and there will be a minute’s silence to pay tribute to cricket legend Dean Jones before the international summer begins at SCG on Friday.

A video tribute to Jones, who tragically and suddenly passed away in September at the age of only 59, is also played while the cricket world pauses to remember one of Australia’s greatest players.

It’s about planning a second tribute to Jones at his beloved MCG during the Boxing Day Test, which is expected to attract up to 40,000 visitors.

Throughout the test, a number of seats will be covered with a banner recognizing the Victorian great’s contribution to the game.

Pakistan’s preparation for the upcoming T20 series and test series against New Zealand has been in turmoil. Six players tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

In a statement, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the players had returned positive tests in isolation in Christchurch and will be placed in the facility’s quarantine arm in accordance with government protocol.

The breach has also resulted in the team’s special exemptions allowing them to train during the two-week quarantine period have also been revoked.

As a result, the Pakistani team’s exemption for training in managed isolation has been put on hold pending the investigation, NZC said.

Though just a little over a week after the State of Origin series ended, the 2020 NRL season draw has been released – and it will be hard to read for Broncos fans.

After winning the club’s first wooden spoon and just one win after the COVID-19 season was suspended, the Brisbane Broncos have a tough road ahead of them.

While the Ladder certainly needs to be messed up in the 2021 season, the Broncos are poised for the toughest run next year.

Of the top 8 2020, the Broncos face the Panthers, Storm, Eels and Roosters twice – the top 4 2020 – the Rabbitohs, the Knights and the Sharks.

Like his performance won with the Wally Lewis medal in the Maroons 2-1 victory, Cameron Munster’s portrayal of taking photos with his teammates before the first game will go down in Origin folklore.

A two-minute behind-the-scenes video produced by the Maroons showed the five-eighth note in terrible shape and the look on his face in the official team shot quickly became one of the memes of the season.

And in another entertaining episode of The Skipper and The Prez, the 26-year-old showed how tough that day was.
