Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thanks Serge Aurier for helping with the AFCON controversy at Gambia Airport

The two nations should meet on Monday for the second time in four days in an important qualifier for the African Cup of Nations in Bakau, which Gabon lost 2-1.

Preparations for the Gabonese squad were severely interrupted with the game, due to start at 4 p.m. GMT on Monday.

A tired-looking Aubameyang posted on social media at 4:37 a.m. Monday morning that the team – who slept on the floor and in chairs – was waiting about six hours after arriving in the country at the airport.

According to Reuters, the Gabonese delegation was told that they had to remain seated because of an “administrative problem” and that they would be allowed to leave after government intervention.

Aubameyang urged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take responsibility, adding that it was like going back to the 1990s: “2020 and we want Africa to grow, this is not how we will get there !!!”

Aubameyang also sent separate angry tweets to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) official report, the first reading: “Great night at the airport.”

He later added, “I just want to know why Gambia keeps our passports for hours and they keep us at the airport. Are we hostages or what? Will you close your eyes Do you want to see the next episode of this film? ”

Aubameyang tweeted at 6 a.m. that the Gabonese team had finally got on the bus from the airport just 10 hours before the start of the game – and Gabon lost the draw 2-1.

Gabon had three points and three points ahead of Gambia before the game, but are now in second place in the qualifying group due to the goal difference.

Spurs defender Aurier, the Ivory Coast captain, took to Instagram to show sympathy for Aubameyang and to urge CAF to reinforce and prevent such situations.

Aurier called the treatment of Gabon “disrespectful” and shameful “and also wrote about his story:” You want respect for our community, let’s start by respecting ourselves!

“Strength for the entire Gabon team.”

Aubameyang published Aurier’s story with the message: “Thank you brother, real talk.”

The Arsenal skipper added his own post: “No words needed, proud of the Panthers, even if we lost today.”
