PGA: Who is Carlos Ortiz, a golfer from Guadalajara who made history?

Carlos Ortiz has managed to write his name in gold letters in the history of Mexican golf, since this Sunday he won the Vivint Houston Open championship, making a spectacular final round.

The triumph of the golfer has become a trend in the country, since it is not just any title, since since 1978, a Mexican had not been able to obtain a victory on the PGA Tour, but who are we talking about?

Carlos Ortiz was born on April 24, 1991 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and from an early age he began to show interest in golf, a sport in which he consolidated as a professional in 2013.

Resident in Dallas, Texas, and a graduate of the University of North Texas, the tapatío is one of the most regular golfers today, however, it cost him 118 events to win on a PGA Tour, although before it had already obtained important recognitions.

In 2014, Ortiz won the Panama Claro Championship, El Bosque Mexico Championship and WinCo Foods Portland Open, corresponding to the Korn Ferry Tour, while at the end of last year he finished second in the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

This Sunday, Ortiz joined Víctor Regalado and César Sanudo in the list of Mexicans with victories within the PGA, which brought him various congratulations such as those of the Governor of Jalisco, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, Sergio Pérez and La Conade.

Among the prizes that the tapatío was awarded with his triumph is more than a million dollars in earnings, 500 points for the FedEx Cup, the complete card for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons of the PGA Tour and the qualification to the Masters 2021 , PGA Championship 2021, The Players Championship and Sentry Tournaments of Champions 2021.
