Not Alaba, This Player Will Save Liverpool from the Central Defender Crisis: Okezone the ball

LIVERPOOL – The news of Joe Gomez’s injury in the England National Team (Timnas) training session has increased the number of injured Liverpool defenders. Now, it can be said that Liverpool are really feeling a central defender crisis because there are only a few players available.

When you look at the current Liverpool squad, only Andrew Robertson, the Reds main squad player, is still fit to play. Virgil van Dijk is certain to be out for a long time due to an ACL injury when Liverpool face Everton in the 2020-2021 Premier League match.

Then Fabinho, who was used as a substitute for Van Djik as a center-back, was injured as well. Then Trent Alexander-Arnold also suffered an injury and now Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp can only hope that Joel Matip can recover from his injury as soon as possible.

If Matip said his return, Liverpool would still need one more center-back. It is for this reason that Liverpool are reportedly going to buy one defender in the 2021 winter transfer market.

Several names of central defenders were immediately linked with Liverpool. One of them is a player from Bayern Munich, namely David Alaba. Alaba, who still has not made a contract extension at Bayern even though their cooperation will end at the end of June 2021, makes Liverpool’s chances of getting the Austrian player even greater.

However, Liverpool actually need defenders in the near future. They can’t possibly wait until summer 2021 opens up to get Alaba for free.

That’s why, according to a report from Sportskeeda, Saturday (11/14/2020), Liverpool intend to find another defender who is currently on a free transfer or has no club since the 2020-2021 season began. Players that can be purchased in January 2021 or when the 2021 winter transfer market opens.

With the conditions that Liverpool were looking for, the name Daryl Janmaat also turned out to be on the radar of Jurgen Klopp’s club. Janmaat, who parted ways with Watford in the summer of 2020, now has no club to play for.

With Janmaat’s experience, who has played in the Premier League for a long time while defending Watford and Newcastle United, the 31-year-old clearly has the advantage of not having to adapt.

Interestingly, Janmaat is actually a right fullback. However, Klopp will still intend to make the Dutchman play as a central defender. It’s worth looking forward to whether Janmaat will actually go to Liverpool or not. Especially considering that Janmaat is currently still trying to be fit from the long injury he suffered since the end of 2019.
