Top NFL predictions for week 10
One of the top week 10 NFL predictions the model recommends: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6) cover is considered a favorite against the Carolina Panthers. The Buccaneers are 9-2-1 against the spread in their last 12 games after a double-digit loss at home, while quarterback Tom Brady still shines for the Buccaneers, throwing 2,398 yards and 20 touchdowns against seven interceptions.
On the flip side, the Panthers greeted superstar Christian McCaffrey, who ran back last week, raging in a last-second loss of 33:31 to the Chiefs to 151 yards of total insult and two touchdowns. McCaffrey, who missed several games with a severe ankle sprain, injured his shoulder against the Chiefs and is out on Sunday.
SportsLine’s model assumes that Brady outperforms Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and that without McCaffrey, the Panthers struggle to reach 100 rushing yards. The model also says Tampa Bay covers well over 50 percent of the simulations. The over (51) has a lot of value because it hits nearly 60 percent of the time.
Another of the top NFL predictions of week 10 from the model: The Saints (-10) cover against the 49ers. After New Orleans had four straight wins by one point, it left no doubt about Tom Brady and the Buccaneers last Sunday evening. Drew Brees threw four touchdown passes as the Saints beat up their division enemy by five touchdowns to take a half-game lead at NFC South.
Now the Saints will try to move on against a Niners squad hobbling into town with a long list of injuries. San Francisco is 2-4 total and against the spread for the last six games and will start backup quarterback Nick Mullens against a New Orleans defense who Brady has just beaten three times.
SportsLine’s model gives Mullens a higher chance of throwing an interception than a touchdown, while Brees throws over 250 yards and two points, as the Saints cover well over 50 percent of the simulations. The over (49) also has value as the teams collectively score 54 total points.
