The more days go by, the more complicated the situation becomes for Malik Beasley, initially accused of having threatened a couple with a weapon who had parked in front of his residence. During the search at the home of the Wolves player, the police had found nearly a kilo of drugs, but also several weapons.
Today, the Star-Tribune tells us that Hennepin County is considering placing its 19-month-old son under social services protection both because there are guns and drugs in the player’s home and of his partner, but also for suspicion of mistreatment.
County public health and social services filed a petition in district court this week challenging the parental rights of Malik Beasley and his wife, Montana Yao. The reason ? Surveillance videos show the player pointing his gun at his son the same day he threatened the couple and their daughter in their car parked in front of his house.
Already indicted for drug possession and threats with a weapon, Malik Beasley then put the weapon near the child, and the police also discovered three notebooks suspected of being drug registers, dextroamphetamine pills and various firearms ammunition. As for the rifle itself, it is a stolen weapon in Denver, where the player evolved before Minnesota.
If the social services are particularly worried, it is because Malik Beasley and his wife, after their arrests, agreed to follow a program in a detoxification center in order to keep custody of their son. But screening tests carried out two weeks after the incident revealed the presence of marijuana, amphetamines and sedatives in their blood.
