Nashville SC secured their spot in the Major League Soccer playoff games in their first season on the Garber Tour, drawing the Chicago Fire 1-1 on Saturday night at Nissan Stadium.

With 29 points in 21 games (average 1.38 pts / game), the Tennessee team holds eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Fire (1.05 pt / game) is approaching the Montreal Impact and ninth place, but is one point behind.

Remember that the first 10 in the East will access the post-season calendar.

Daniel Armando Rios opened the scoring for Nashville in the 28th minute of play. The Fire replied before the end of the first half thanks to defender Boris Sekulic.

The Illinois reps could have saved themselves with a win, but a deflection from a Fire striker’s header crashed onto the upright in the 88th minute.

Nashville are undefeated in their last nine home games.
