More and more alike: LeBron’s son, on his way to the top 10

LeBron James has few dreams left to fulfill on a basketball court. Four times champion, he will look for his fifth ring in the season that begins in less than a month and the second with some Lakers who defend the title and start as big favorites. LeBron will turn 36 years old in December and will do so already in his eighteenth season in the NBA. Half life in the best basketball league in the world, where only Michael Jordan seems to continue to put himself between him and the throne of the best player ever. In addition to his four championships, he has accumulated 4 MVPs, 4 Finals MVPs with three different teams (Heat, Cavaliers, Lakers), 16 all star, 13 nominations for the Best Quintet …

LeBron, anyway, has few challenges ahead. One is to become the top scorer in history. He is already third with, now, 34,241. Last season he beat Kobe Bryant and is ahead of Karl Malone (36,928) and Kareem Abdul Jabbar (38,387). That is, 2,687 points separate him from the first and 4,146 from the legendary pivot. LeBron always exceeds 1,500 points per course, and is far beyond 2,000. So, even with the scissors to the calendar that the pandemic is causing, it seems that Malone is very close at hand, but the great Kareem is still far away. In his career average (27.1 points per night) he would place second in 111 games. That is, at some point in the 2021-22 season, in which he will turn 37.

But LeBron has also externalized another of the illusions with which he would finish a legendary career: play on the NBA courts with his oldest son, LeBron James Jr, Bronny. He has already played a high school season in Sierra Canyon, California, and has left excellent sensations. And now, the photos in which he appears training with his father have put the world of basketball on notice: each time higher (he is already 1.90) and stronger, the physical resemblance to his father begins to be undeniable. Almost amazing:

Bronny James is 16 years old and a combo guard (point guard / guard) with excellent game vision and intelligence, a full physique and ability to score. He is improving by leaps and bounds, and he does not stop growing in the rankings for the 2023 draft. At the beginning of his first year at Sierra Canyon, he was considered the 30th player in the country and is already in position 19 of the forecasts, fifth among escorts and projected to climb even higher in the nearly three years left until that 2023 draft, which will be celebrated when his father, LeBron, is already 38 years old.

If LeBron didn’t go through college and jump straight into the NBA from St Vincent-St Mary High School in his native Akron, Bronny does have plans to do so. Kentucky has already offered him a scholarship and Duke is considered the favorite to get him. The rest of the greats (Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA) are also on the prowl. And it is logical: with that pedigree, they have to be.
