Luis Sinisterra: Feyenoord renewed his contract until 2023 | Colombians Abroad

Colombian footballer Luis Sinisterra, who is still recovering from a serious injury suffered last February, has renewed his contract with Feyenoord until 2023, the Dutch club announced in a statement on Thursday.

Sinisterra arrived in the Netherlands in the summer of 2018 from the Colombian Once Caldas and signed for three seasons with the option to extend the agreement for two more years, as the Rotterdam team did today.

The 21-year-old forward is in the final stages of recovering from a knee injury sustained on February 16, when he was forced to skip the second half of a Zwolle-Feyenoord. The club’s technical director, Frank Arnesen, acknowledged that “the road to recovery for Luis has been long, but luckily for him and for us it is almost over.”

“Although it has been tough, he has never stopped laughing in recent months,” said Arnesen, for whom the contract extension is a way to “express our confidence in him and reward him.”

The Colombian international only appeared in five games during his first season at Feyenoord, always leaving as a substitute, but won the confidence of coach Dick Advocaat for the following season. Last season, he played 32 official games for the Dutch club, in which he scored seven goals and gave eight assists.
