Mohamed Salah has vowed to continue to ignore the moans, writes Ian Doyle.

Salah is expected to fight for Atalanta’s Champions League visit on Wednesday after missing the weekend win over Leicester City after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Egyptian is hoping to continue his scoring form after 10 goals in 13 games – his best start to the season in Liverpool.

Eight of them got into the Premier League with Salah when he applied early for the Golden Boot Award, which he won straight away in 2018 and shared 12 months later.

And when asked about his hopes for a personal hat trick, the Reds striker had a message for his critics.

Salah said:

“I think it’s hard to do it the first time, but it’s harder to do it the second time and even harder to do it the third time.

“Some people will always complain. They will say ‘he’s good at this but he’s not good at this part’.

“You just have to go ahead and do your stuff and I am very proud that I am doing that.

“Goals, assists … I feel good about it and although it’s a little more difficult, it’s our job and we have to go out and perform.

“It was important to win these individual prizes, but I always say that the Premier League, the Champions League and the team trophies come first.

“The goal for me is to win both. We won the Champions League alone and then the Premier League last season. My goal is to win both (in the same season).”
